Founder & CEO, Zerentro
Yagnesh Ramalingam. Founder of Zerentro.
Supply chain at Tyson Foods, operations at Porter, then chief of staff at Saras Analytics. In every one of those jobs the problem was never access to data. It was agreeing on the number fast enough to act on it.

The story
Never a data problem. Always a trust problem.
I spent a decade inside operations and supply chain before I noticed the same thing in every building. The company never lacked data. Nobody trusted it enough to act on it quickly.
Reports sat unread. Dashboards got built and then ignored. Decisions got made anyway, just slower, and often on gut feel dressed up as analysis. The stack got more sophisticated every year, and the argument about the number got longer, because there were more places the number could have come from.
Zerentro is the company I started to fix that: one definition and one owner for every number that matters, answers delivered in Slack, Teams and email, and analysts who check them.
I studied at IIT Kharagpur and IIM Ahmedabad. If we talk and the honest answer is that this isn’t the right work for your team, I’ll say so. I would rather lose the project than take one where I know the diagnosis doesn’t fit.
Career
Operations first. Software second.
The work was operations long before it was software. I’ve been the person who had to turn the tooling into a decision on a Thursday.

What I believe
Four beliefs. Every engagement.
Complexity is inevitable.
Businesses will keep adding systems. The job is to stop complexity turning into confusion.
Technology should make a business easier to run.
If a new tool adds another version of a number without retiring an old one, it isn’t progress.
Trust has parts.
An owner, a written definition, a source, and a name on the number.
Deciding shouldn’t be slow.
Three weeks for a Monday question isn’t rigour. It’s latency.
Why the company is called
Short for zero entropy.
Order in a growing business doesn’t happen by accident. It takes deliberate, continuous work, and that work is the company’s job. The long version is the framework.
Common questions
Writing about Yagnesh? Bios and a headshot are in the press kit.
What does Yagnesh Ramalingam do?
He helps leadership teams stop arguing about numbers: one definition and one owner per metric, and a sourced answer the same day. He founded Zerentro, which runs that for companies that want it run for them.
What did he do before Zerentro?
A decade in operations: supply chain at Tyson Foods in Mumbai, head of operations at Porter through its fast-growth years, then chief of staff to the CEO at Saras Analytics. Before that, he was a business analyst at KPMG Advisory. He studied at IIT Kharagpur and IIM Ahmedabad.
What does the name Zerentro mean?
It is short for zero entropy. Every extra dashboard and every extra definition of a number adds another version of the truth. Taking them out is deliberate, continuous work, and that work is the company’s job.
What does he write about?
Decision latency: the time from a business question to an answer someone acts on. He publishes Seeing the Unseen twice a month, and the essays and the framework on this site go deeper.
Who is this for?
Finance, operations, revenue and data leaders at companies that already have a warehouse and a BI tool and still can’t get a trusted answer in time. If you are a small team with one analyst, it probably isn’t for you yet.
How do I work with him?
Book thirty minutes and bring one number your leadership team argues about. You’ll leave knowing whether it’s a data, definition or ownership problem. If Zerentro isn’t the right way to fix it, he’ll tell you.
